Kulturmejeriet Exhibition 2023
Exhibition theme: Root Systems
Location: Kulturmejeriet, Röbäck, Umeå
Materials: Merino wool, various silk fabrics (silk pongee, silk gauze, and silk chiffon), and wool yarn
Technique: Various felting techniques, including nuno felting, and embroidery
Work 1.
In “Don’t Touch Us,” I explore the threat to forests and the ongoing destruction of woodland. Cylindrical tubes form a relief.
Works 2 and 3.
In “The Unexpected,” I evoke the feeling of being beneath the surface of the ocean, which is so vital to us, and everything we have yet to discover there. Watery colors enhance that feeling.
Works 4 and 5.
In “Close,” I seek to create a feeling through the way the material shrinks and draws everything together. We humans, animals, and the natural world need to hold on to one another.
Work 6.
In “Life,” I try to show that we are all connected, using a drop of water as the symbol of that connection.
