Exhibition theme: Format/Format
Location: Kulturmejeriet, Röbäck, Umeå
Materials: Hand-dyed silk and merino wool for the dress and bag. Sculpture felted from Swedish fine wool.
Technique: Nuno-felted dress and bag, each made seamlessly in one piece. The sculpture is also felted seamlessly in one piece.
“In Time and Out of Time” Dress and bag
Inspired by the late 1800s and early 1900s, when silk was an established part of clothing. The sleeves shown here were felted without seams.
The 1920s inspired the dropped waistlines of the dresses.
The 1960s and the hippie era of the late ’60s also influenced the work, particularly the fringe and overall appearance of the bag.
The 1970s are reflected in the orange and green colors, which remind me of my own youth.
“Defined Form — The Coral”
Environmental concerns always find their way into my work. A white coral is dead; I offer it a sense of hope through warm light.
